I've been playing the first Rocksmith for the last 2 months and so far clocked hours in it. I really feel that I improve a lot - I had almost no previous experience. It depends on which version of Rocksmith you have.
If you owned the original Rocksmith, you can import those songs for $9.99 from the shop in the main menu. This item will only be visible in searches to you, your friends, and admins. What problems are you having with Sweet Home Abalama? I started playing it before Rocksmith so I could give a few pointers. /u/Atros81 is correct that the shadow chords are not shown in the first RS but it was quite visible in "Good Enough" - that actually gave me the idea it might be arpeggio. You see the ghost chords you are supposed to have your fingers on and pick the arpeggios. My muscles already learned the distance between any two strings which share a common neighbour (i.e. E-D, A-G, D-B, G-e) but I'm still not used to the larger "jumps" such as A-B or E-G which are used a lot in the song.
It's part of the original Rocksmiths songlist, so if you want to get it for you'd need to buy a) Rocksmith and b) the Disc Import Tool from the RS2014 store page.
More DLCs from this game
I find it extremely difficult to constantly change strings which I play with my picking hand all the while maintaining a proper tempo. So we've compiled a handy list of every song you can get a hold of and how to get it, and we'll be updating it as more DLC is released. I tried tone for Boston and when loading min the song the tone drops off to plane sound and ois very low. Then, I can't change the tone to anything else and it evetually drops so low you can't hear it. I have to shut down and re-boot, but it's starting to happen all the time.
Really getting on my nerves and I don't have an hour to try and get in and play. When enabled, off-topic review activity will be filtered out. This defaults to your Review Score Setting. Play "Tuesday’s Gone", "Gimme Three Steps", and "Call Me The Breeze" by Lynyrd Skynyrd on any electric guitar or bass. In RS2012, there were no shadow chords, which made learning songs with arpeggios a lot harder. In 2014 it's a lot easier because you can see all of the notes, even if you're not playing them yet, teaching you how to set your hand. However, there are several songs which I'm really struggling with. These mainly include "Sweet Home Alabama", "Rebel, Rebel" and verse in "Good Enough".

It's easy to tell you didn't learn guitar from Rocksmith as well. Those little subtle finger lifts on the more staccato verse parts aren't annotated in any way so you either have a good ear or you've been doing this a while and this isn't your first rodeo. I feel like I'm really missing something crucial here. I can easily get 100k points in Free Bird but I seem to be unable to score more than 40k in any of the aforementioned songs . I ran the calibration tool from the tuner screen, and calibrated while strumming realatively gently. That boosted the volume of the guitar quite a bit for me. Yes i have as well I think there is a problem with the song. The rest of the game works fine for me, but Sweet Home Alabama I have a similar issue to you, my guitar bolume drops way low and it doesn't seem to match the song.
